Character is fundamental to leadership. When we speak about character we describe our conduct when no one is watching. Far more than words or actions, character flows from the inside out. As one of the most critical components of these four seminars, character development builds on the concept of “leading out of being” rather than “doing.” Leadership begins with who we are, not just what we do. The belief is that if we are who we should be on the inside, the outside will naturally follow. Because this session is more individually based, it is important that congregations implement ways to promote character development among its members. The lessons below explore, discuss, and apply methods to develop our character as leaders.
